Ala Kol Lake: A Trekker’s DelightFor the adventurous souls, a trek to Ala Kol Lake is an absolute must. Our journey concludes in the remote Jyrgalan Valley, a hidden paradise for nature lovers. This untouched wilderness offers a plethora of outdoor activities, including hiking, horseback riding, and bird watching. Immerse yourself in the local culture by staying in a traditional yurt and savoring delicious Kyrgyz cuisine
Airport Manas – Bishkek
Arrival in Bishkek early morning. After immigration and customs met the Kyrgyz Guide Team outside of arrival hall. Transfer to the hotel to check in. Free time. Dinner at the local restaurant. Accommodation at the Hotel.
Bishkek – North Issyk-Kul Lake - Jyrgalan
Breakfast. Transfer to Jyrgalan along the northern side of Issyk-Kul Lake, 470 км, 8 hrs. On the way visit Petroglyphs Museum on open air dating from 500 BC – 100 AD - image of wolves, long-horned ibex, goats, horses, snow leopard and some hunting scenes. Arrival and check in Family Guest House.
Jyrgalan – Terim Tor
Breakfast. Start our trekking from Jyrgalan to Terim-Tor Bulak gorge. Picnic lunch on the way. This day the trail goes through green valley and pasture mixed with mountain ridge. On the way you will meet the livestock of the local shepherds. The elevation gain is 950 m.
Dinner and overnight in a tent at 2550m.
Terim-Tor - Terim Tor Pass – Turgen Ak Suu Valley
This day is one of the hardest days during this trek. Leaving the camp, you will summit Terim Tor pass (3467 m). Picnic lunch. Continue the trek via the river in Turgen Valley you will summit Buzuchuk pass (3362). Elevation gain is +1050 m. Dinner. Tent camp is on the shore of Bozuchuk Lake (3400m).
Bozuchuk Lakes - Ailanysh Pass – Jergez
Today we will have a beautiful trekking part to the mountain lakes - Boz-Uchuk to Ailanysh pass (3367 m). Be ready for a challenging day to conquer the pass. It starts steep but then levels out, making it the more manageable of the day’s passes.
Lunch will be with breathtaking lake views.
Set up the camp in Jergez Valley. Elevation gain is +950 m. Dinner and overnight in the tents.
Jergez Valley – Almaluu Valley
Your journey will take you up to the majestic Ailanysh Pass (3 617 m). As you conquer the pass, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views. Descending from the pass, you will find yourself in the enchanting Alamaluu valley, situated at an altitude of 2400 meters. Elevation gain is +300 m. Camp overnight in tents under the starry sky, surrounded by nature's tranquility.
Almaluu Valley – Altryn Arashan
After breakfast, we will embark on an easy hiking adventure in the valley. As you explore, you'll have the opportunity to capture stunning photos of horses, goats, and shepherds in their natural habitat. In the middle of the day, we will begin our ascent to Ortok Pass, reaching an elevation of 3729 meters. Elevation gain is +950 m. From there, we will descend to the picturesque Altyn Arashan Valley – Hot Springs, where we will spend the night in the Yurt Camp.
Altyn Arashan Hot Springs – Keldike Valley
Today we will say goodbye to our team and will continue trekking by ourselves only with day backpacks. After a satisfying breakfast, our trekking adventure continues towards our next destination: Keldike valley. Prepare to be mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty of this picturesque valley. Elevation gain is +1100 m.
For dinner, we will enjoy delicious meals and spend the night in traditional yurts, immersing ourselves in the authentic nomadic experience.
Keldike Valley - Sirota Camp Site
After breakfast, we will take Ala Kol Pass 3860m (this is our highest point on this trek),
We will begin our descent to Ala-Kol Lake (3500m), a breathtaking natural wonder nestled amidst the majestic Terskey Ala Too Mountains. Prepare to be captivated by the beauty of this hidden gem, as it is formed by a natural rock dam. As we make our way, we will enjoy a delicious lunch along the route. The adventure continues as we trek down to Sirota Yurt Camp (2700m)
Sirota Camp Site - Karakol
After breakfast, your hiking journey starts from the Sirota Camp to Karakol Gorge, where the trail begins to go downhill gently along the western bank of the Karakol River. You will hike through a variety of landscapes, including forest covers, open pastures, and areas affected by landslides. The trail follows peaceful stretches of the river, where you might encounter horses grazing during the summer months. After lunch we will hike to the first bridge where the car will transfer to Karakol Town. Check-in. Rest. Dinner at Dungan Family.

Karakol – Fairytale Canyon – Bishkek
Karakol city tour: Russian Orthodox Church & Dungan Mosque, local bazar.
Drive to Bishkek along the southern side of Issyk-Kul Lake. On the way, I visit Skazka Canyon (Fairytale) Arrival in Bishkek. Rest.
Dinner at the local restaurant. Accommodation at the hotel.
