Description:
The most interesting and loved trekking trails by adventurous people starts from Shamshy Gorge which is located in Cultural Complex Burana Tower in the Chui region and go to the final destination Son-Kul Lake.
Burana Tower is the most visible remnant of the old Balasagun city. Built in the 11th century, the tower is thought to have been a minaret. The trekking trails go through the jailoos and valley where Kyrgyz shepherds tend their flocks in the summer. Lake Song-Kol is the jewel of the jailoos, a stunning 270 km of sparkling water at 3016 m, surrounded by 3700 m mountains on all sides. For the fullest jailoo experience, approach the lake via the mountains enclosing the Shamshy Gorge in Kyrgyz Range, western end of Kochkor Valley, moving from jailoo to jailoo and staying with shepherd families in remote meadows far off the beaten path. Enjoy homemade jam, fresh cream, bread still warm from the oven, and the best kymyz (fermented mare’s milk) around. The route traverses remote Jumgal rayon, and reaches Song-Kol via Jalgyz Karagai (Lone Fir) Pass on the north shore.
Bishkek – Shamshy Gorge (120 km, 2 hrs.)
Breakfast. Transfer to Smashy Gorge. On the way excursion to Burana Tower (X-XI cen.). Then continue drive to Shamshy gorge. Lunch in Yurt Inn. Afternoon walking in the fir-trees forest and enjoy nature. Free time and meet guides team for the trekking preparation. Dinner and accommodation in the Mountain Guest House.

Shamshy Gorge – Shamsy pass – 3570 m (6-7 hrs trekking)
Breakfast. Meet with horseman and guides’ team, load all the stuffs and start trekking towards Shamshy pass 3 570 meters. Set up tent camp on the foot of Pass which will be passed on the next day. On the way you will meet local shepherds and go through the gorge with evergreen forests. Dinner and overnight in tents.

Shamshy pass - Sarala-Saz jailoo (5 hrs trekking )
After breakfast continue tour and cross the Shamshy pass (3 570 meters). Discover the nice view of Kochkor, Shamshy valley and ride up to Sarala-Saz jailoo, which opens beautiful views of the Sandyk mountains. Meet local nomads and see local traditions and customs. View of nomad’s yurts from the top of the mountain look like Parisian’s mushrooms. Set up the tents near the nomad’s yurts in Sarala-Saz jailoo.

Sarala-Saz jailoo - Iri-Suu jailoo (6 hrs trekking)
After breakfast The jailoo Sarala-Saz offer beautiful views of the Kara Moinok and Sandyk mountains to the south. Start your trekking way to Iri Suu jailoo. This day you spend crossing wide-open pastures till Iri Suu area. Eat dinner in Iri-Suu jailoo, and then take an evening walk over the hill into the beautiful Karakol River valley, where you can eat wild rhubarb and watch the alpenglow on the southern mountains

Iri-Suu jailoo - Sook Valley (5-6 hrs. trekking)
After breakfast loading of the gears for a long day tour through nearly empty country. Pass over the Buchuk Pass (3400 m). On the other side, after a brief break for lunch on the trail, descend into the beautiful Sook Valley. Wild onions cover the high cold ridges, while lower down whole hillsides of wildflowers bloom. You can see eagles soar and plenty marmots in the amazing pasture. Set up the tents for dinner and overnight close to Sook River.

Sook Valley- Kyzart Pass (7-8 hrs. trekking)
Breakfast. Hiking to the next valley west, the Kum Bel (Sandyk) to approach to the 3 600 m Kum Bel Pass. From the pass, follow a ridge to the peak, 3656 m above sea level, with fascinating 360 views and sheer drops to the north. After lunch descend into the Jumgal valley, and follow it down to the Kyzart Pass (2664m).
Set up the tent camp for dinner and overnight before the pass.

Kyzart Pass – Kilemchi (5-6 hrs trekking)
After breakfast hiking through the Kyzart Pass (2664m) and then cross Kyzyl-Kiya jailoo, an enormous, relatively flat sea of grass. Continue over the Chaar-Archa Pass (3 061 m) into the Chaar-Archa Valley. After lunch cross the river and follow the trail over hills to Kilemche Jailoo. Dinner and overnight in the tent.

Kilemchi- Son-kol Lake (4-5 hrs. trekking)
After breakfast trekking to Jalgyz Karagai pass (3400 m), over the Song-Kol Mountains and into the lake’s basin. The morning climb affords wonderful views of Kilemche jailoo, and the pass itself is rocky and exciting. After lunch at Jaman Echki, follow the lakeshore east to the yurt at Batai Aral. Upon arrival, meet your host family of Kyrgyz shepherds in Son-Kul Lake. Dinner and overnight are in a yurt camp.

Son-kol lake- Cholpon-ata (250 km, 5-6hrs)
Breakfast. Transfer to Cholpon-Ata, northern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake via Kochkor.
On the way visit handicraft and souvenir shop in Kochkor. Lunch in Kochkor in family guesthouse. Then continue drive to Cholpon-ata town (capital of a beach resorts). Issyk-Kul Lake along the North side of the celestial Issyk Kul Lake, the second largest alpine lake in the world (1608 m). Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Meals: breakfast, lunch
Cholpon - Ata – Bishkek (270km,4-5 hrs.)
Breakfast. Rest on the beach. Afternoon visit Cultural Complex “Ruh Ordo”, Petroglyphs Museum (ancient stone inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.). Lunch in Balykchy town. Transfer to Bishkek. Check-in to hotel.
Bishkek sightseeing tour: visit Ala-Too square, Oak tree Park, Osh bazar (open market), Open Art Gallery, Opera and Ballet Theatre, Victory square. Last moment shopping. Dinner in local restaurant. Overnight in a hotel. Meals: breakfast
