Late January-February and April are the ideal months for hitting the backcountry

Brief description:

These 8 days-long Ski Tour takes in some of the most beautiful scenery in Kyrgyzstan -the world's second largest alpine Lake Issyk-Kul, mountain ranges and alpine peaks. Kyrgyzstan offers the most phenomenal skiing/riding in the Terskey Ala Too Range. The northeastern part of Kyrgyzstan offers a wide variety of terrain and altitudes, allowing you access to whatever slopes best fit the ski level of your group. The yurt where you’ll be staying is surrounded on three sides by summits and areas which offer everything from tree line skiing and glades to pillow drops and gently rolling terrain

Day 1: Manas Airport - Northern Issyk Kul – Karakol (400km), 5-6 hours.

Pick-up at Manas Airport then transfer to Karakol visiting Burana Tower (Balasagyn, Karahanid 10-11th centuries) and a stone garden containing petroglyphs from the 4th century on the way. Accommodations at a local guest house in Karakol.

Day 2: Ski day (10km), 30 min.

Skiing at Karakol Ski Base. There are 2 skiing options available here. You can either stay and ski in the main ski base area or you can do some off-piste skiing/riding further up at an elevation of 3,000 meters. Accomodations in Karakol at the same guest house.

Day 3: Karakol – Ak Suu (40km).

Picking up the group at Karakol or Aksuu village, Group and gear haul to the yurt camp location with snowmobiles (2600m). Skin up to nearby slopes for skiing or have a rest. Hot drinks, lunch and dinner at Yurt Camp. Sauna on request.

Day 4,5: Yurt camp

Travel up to a yurt (approx 6 km). In the afternoon, explore the area around the yurt camp. In these days You will be enjoying by the new lines and a real Nomad Hospitality.

The camp sits at 2,600m. The site is surrounded by 3,400-3,600m peaks to the west, south and east, providing immediate access to endless backcountry terrain. To our northwest is Lake Issyk-Kul, the second largest alpine lake in the world and the major contributor to our snowpack, providing the warmth and moisture required for the lake-effect snowfall that the eastern and southeastern shores are known for.

All food served at Yurt Camp is prepared by our local partners and will exceed your expectations. The dinner menu highlights traditional Kyrgyz cuisine, for aprés ski sessions we keep a nicely stocked yurt bar with local beers, vodka, and cognac available for purchase.

Conditions of the program:

Equipment: Participants must have their equipment such as backpacks, desirable to have a personal sleeping bag, warm clothes, skies(fat skies), skins, beacons, shovel etc. (The whole structure of personal equipment)

Physical requirements:Participants must be in good physical condition, at least AST 1,2 level. The differences of heights range from 600 m to 1000 m in vertical elevation. The maximum elevation is 4000 m.

Booking / Payment

We book agreed tour package and services after clients confirmation. To guarantee booking we apply to make prepayment within 5 days after all services booked and confirmed. Balance can be paid upon arrival.

Cancellations and charges

- There is no cancellation charge for confirmed booking made 15 days prior to arrival, but any actual expenses incurred relating to documents such as visa support, permits, or any other necessary official paperwork, have to be paid.

- There is cancellation charge of 10% of booking amount for cancellations made less 15 days of arrival date

- There is cancellation charge of 50% of booking amount for cancellations made less 3 days before arrival date.
